Any suggestions that might assist me to overcome the problems?

Perhaps you need to consider uprating the engine - I would think you need at least 50HP to drive that :)

Nothing a couple of travellers couldn't sort!

reminds me of a tale told by the old man about loading a prop as deck cargo for one of the Blue Funnel ships stuck out in the Far East

started out at the UK end as a bronze prop weighing many tons, by the time they got to Singapore and went to unload it it'd turned into a wooden dummy weighing not many tons at all!

they never did figure out how or where it was switched (although it must've been, to some extent at least, an inside job)

Needs a good polish and a coat of lanolin (or udder cream - yer pays yer money.....)?

Nah............... Don t play with it.....Cut 12" off each blade and reprofile.... Worked for me about 40 years ago !!!!!!! Came back onto the engine curve and went like a dream except in the SW Monsoon!

I installed one of those on my Sabre last year. TBH I did'nt experience your "black smoke" issues at all.

But bloody hell she has a mind of her own going astern now...
