De-natured alcohol is the best stuff for sticker removal, it will dissolve the adhesive and wipe away easily without any damage like acetone. It’s what sign writers use and much better than anything branded or covering your boat in wd40.

painting started. blue line up the arch and along the gunwale in top colour grey primer….although it can be a Matt topcoat too. I’m thinking leave that one Matt and the red line same grey colour but gloss. The other grey I have is lighter. I’ll have a play about

Black sealant….works on everything else??

Been a bit bashed but it is a 1986 boat. Hardly any other marks!

Don’t think so - although I may well be wrong. For ‘alcohol’ you want isopropanol/iso alcohol. Gallon used to be tenner or so - guessing a lot more now. I always thought meths was hydrocarbon based. Chemist will no doubt come along and tell us we’re both wrong and the thing you need is LIDL vodka ;)

I buy isopropyl alcohol from the chemist (if I'm lucky and they have some, else I have to order...) and it was a tenner (euro) for 1l 5-6yrs ago, latest was a tenner for half a litre :-(

We used to use of for de-icing light aircraft - this was up until 5 years ago (I quit the flying for boats!). Maybe it was more expensive than I remember? Everything was expansive in that world!

Decals are nearly all off. It’s proving a right sticky mess! Especially the arch! What’s best for removing adhesive residue?

Spent the morning getting g covered in dust and generally having a crap time but it’s over…..antifoul removed! Didn’t it with 80 grit…..carefully. You really can hammer 80’s gelcoat ?

Well. Now I don’t know what to do!

I like it Matt and both stripes the same colour! I can do the black Louvre’s the same colour to tie it all in. Or will gloss look better????

First morning back at the boat. 80’s all gone.

I had just finished when taking the photos hence the hull lines look a darker colour. Defo the same paint ?F1EFF0FD-8F19-47CB-87DF-4BFA63E5C7A4.jpegB36DFFB5-7814-40C0-8123-98DBE7734538.jpeg0DB9F6E7-098E-4FA8-93B9-D556FCF035E3.jpegBB9EF6E0-639D-4EDD-AA26-BDA93E27EA62.jpeg

Tomorrow I will wet sand the lot and see what I looks like and decide if I’m going to go gloss

Found a funky bracket for securing the cabin door open too. Better than the OE bungie cord
