New member, new Weston 670 owner

I should add - if you are referring to Creative Covers in Great Yarmouth, they still appear to be in business with their Facebook page being updated regularly - are those the people who you believe had the original contract?

**Edited** - clearly you've tried to contact them and had no joy, but their Facebook seems live.

Hi Creative Covers say they have produced a set of doors and a cockpit for one boat in the past, however, they were not the original manufactures used by Weston Boats of Colchester when the boat were originally made. Creative Covers have some experience, given their proximity to the Broads, where the Weston’s are said to be favoured, it was a fair bet to try them. It sounds highly likely that the original manufacturer went out of business.

Thanks Martin. Over the past year I have come to understand that there's no businesses about that are related to the original Weston boats. Looks like Creative are as good a bet as any. I will give them a ring and see what cost they might be coming in at. I'm open to their adapting the design of the side covers to give more window space using a straight zip rather than curved if possible.

Hi guys.

New member and owner of a 670. Would either of you guys have any sites to help me with interiors. I would like to do it myself, looking for ideas, places to buy equipment etc.. Have engine fitted, volvo penta 2.3. Interior needs gutted and start from fresh.

Good Lord - contact from another Weston owner. We are a rare breed online, despite my hearing that the boats are not uncommon. A pleasure to meet you.

Here's what I have learned. It's a very simple boat which is lucky as nobody seem to be alive that worked on it back in the day.

What state is yours in Weston? Do you really need to gut the interior all at once? As you own a Weston I am going to make a guess that this boating lark is new to you? If so I'd suggest you gut one part at once. The joy of the boat is that 3 cabin layout so you can work on one cabin at a time, perhaps from the back forward?

I am also working on the interior at the moment, and just like any boat it is slow going. I am about to take the windows out and replace the rubbers. I did get the side door plastic window replaced and a new zip fitted at 'Amtrim', who were frankly terrific and a fair price. They will be trusted on all the canvas materials in the coming year.

May I ask where you are based and how you came by the boat?

Also where is your fuel tank positioned - that's a puzzler for me. Do stay in touch - we are a rare breed!

Would you look at that. Mine has been tricked out with all the optional extras such as a horn.

Thanks for popping these up.
