My mate has just bought his New Dekpa in Levkas. The PP sked for his SSR , Insurance, His Iicence ( what ever that is ) and 50 Euro.

That is all. Told to make sure he renew it before this new one runs out which could be a problem if he arrives later than March next year!

So that`s it --- definetly no " Cruising " mentioned. I just love it in Greec and will be there in 2 weeks to get my new Dekpa thing also. To much rumour mongering about.

It all depends on where you are.

From this 'horses mouth' - the Port Police in Leros stamped our old DEKPA just over a week ago and said it is now valid for another year.

Don't we just love Greece ,
One good think is one PP dont know what the other PP going, some time even in the same office , and they know this ,
so even when there is a slight problem most will just turn an blind eye , has they can't be bothered with the hassle .
Ok you can fine that one pp in a hundred PP can be a pain .
So you smile , take it on the chin .

Exactly. There is no 'horse's mouth' where the port police are concerned in Greece. Every horse is different!

And you wouldn't want to bet on any of them ;)

I get your point but I am going to the PP which my mate has just been to successfully. I guess there will be many more reports with different results as more owners arrive in the next months.

My friend in Levkas just did his new Dekpa as I reported before but he now tells me that another guy was doing his and was asked for his proof of Purchase and proof of VAT paid. If so that will be a new one which maysee multitudes of boats heading for the hills out of Greece. Still ,more room in the Summer I guess.

This sort of variety in application of rules is common amongst the port police in Greece. If one office asks you to produce a document you don't have then try again somewhere else, or even in the same office when a different shift is on.

It might be worthwhile some kind soul publishing a list of ports where the new DEKPA is issued with the minimum of fuss and bother?

Probably not too many out there yet -- I will be there in a few weeks and I will report more.

I went to get my DEKPA yesterday in Lefkas. They asked for insurance certificate, SSR certificate, my skippers licence (ICC) and my passport. They also asked if I had an old DEKPA which I didn't having bought the boat in November and none available then. Whole process took about 40 minutes half of which was waiting in the bank downstairs to pay my 50 Euros. Couldn't have been easier and they couldn't have been more pleasant.
Told me I need to take the DEKPA back to be stamped around this time each year.

I doubt they'll drag you in to buy one and you could probably get away without having one for years. The problem with that approach is, that if something serious does happen, not having a valid DEKPA just gives them ammunition with which to shoot you - and an excuse to go into fine tooth comb mode to uncover other Greek laws you might be breaking....

I would not want to come and visit you in a Greek jail:p

Where are you off to this year?

Our plains are a bit up and down at the moment ,
until we sell our other boat we be hanging around Ionian to be available to show people around .
By the way chris , if anyone ask , Prezeva is prob the easily place to get the DEPKA , as all the offices are within 5 mins of each other , Lefkes the same .
Offcause you have to be in the area .

Good luck with selling the boat. We are going up to North Aegean from Turkey clockwise arriving North of Evia around July.

I will be checking in in Kos. Hope they are OK

To get round the problems of multiple owners of the good ship Carina and the presentation of their passports top get this new DEKPA thingy, I have amended my SSR registration, to just me as the owner - shush - her in doors does not know.

This should solve the problem getting the new DEKPA and not having her passport with me. £25 squids later - it should turn up in 10 days time.
