New boat!

An over due update. I hit an enthusiasm wall. I’ve put 35 hours into wet sanding one side of the hull. Got frustrated 10 hours in and dug out some 180 grit mesh. This paint is rock hard! Whoops. Got it flatter pretty quick though ? Spent the the next 25 hours working up from 600 to 1000 then 2000 grit.I’ve been using abralon pads. Really good but time consuming. Now into compounding and it’s coming up well….maybe even good. pictures are after just one compound pass. Few more then polish and wax to go.

is it flawless…….no. Would anyone else notice…..probably not….except @BruceK who has enjoyed a few “I told you so”

Hoping the other side doesn’t take so long but I’m bringing in professional help as I have other more interesting things to do

worth remembering where I started for the motivation

Ya but, no but, yes but, you've given up and chucking the job over the fence. But I told you so ? The GREAT NEWS is you can now join the crowd of DIYers by make it somebody else's problem and throw money at it instead. Please get your contractor to sign up here and post the developments.
However having got so far, we would all encourage you to complete this yourself. It gives me a great boost when I have spanner in hand, ass in the air, to know a good buddy has cocked up worse than me. ?

We'd welcome him like a brother but he has us on ignore apparently. Probably Roy's fault. I'm blameless in these things.

Bruce K was on ignore for a while and I honestly can't remember why. I don't remember ever ignoring Seastoke. But I'm relatively anti-social so who knows. Neither are on ignore now. I expect I'll regret that.
I thought my annual anti-foul job was a monotonous tedious slow process. Thankfully we use ablative so I don't have to sand. I don't think I could face that.

It was probably one of my many videos with the screaming supercharger whine in it that did it. I tried putting them on ignore myself a while ago. but I think I'll fit a kill switch to the clutches instead. Good news though, I pirated some KAD44/300 SC silencer boxes off Coastal Pirates so although they still scream it's not that ear bleeding scream anymore. More like the sound Roy makes when he discovers you've pilfered his beer while he's been out walking the dog.

back in track!

looks good mr G, well done. pic two seems dull, what stage of the process was it?

V.

that’s 1 pass with compound. Few more of those to go yet. I’m not going to get dead clear mirror finish from all angles

OK np from me, you are going to put her in the water aren't you? mirror finish is a futile exercise for something you're actually using imho...

Yup. The good thing is every time it gets compounded/polished….it will get better and better. There’s loads of paint left and if worse comes to worse…..I could put another coat on! The main thing is it’s 2 part….properly epoxy primed and well stuck on. If I was more confident….I’d do another coat but that might be a job for next year after some use.

still got the bow area to figure out and create a seating area/ table etc… Nothing to complex

ideally I want it removable so picture one looks like an option1325857E-78BF-4662-93D8-66A6772CCE55.jpeg

I don’t give two hoots if you put me on ignore , to me that’s a compliment.

Hinged seats are best for a fishing boat. But it’s very difficult on a curved surface and the proper boat bench hinges are very expensive and very hard to find
