Well the deal is done!

Thanks to the team at Thames Boat Sales, this must have been the quickest transaction in history!

No Regrets was lifted out, and given a clean bill of health a little earlier today, a River trial was successfully completed half an hour later, and the Scand 32 is now awaiting a transfer of all our boaty stuff tomorrow morning!

We have picked a new name, which is 'Fifty Shades' (of Bray) which is quite amusing, and suits the whore-red decor of the master suite...

The surprising thing was how little osmosis was evident on a 35 year old Broom, with only one blister showing, frankly I expected a lot more (which would be quite normal!) and the next owners are going to get a lovely lovely boat!

The Scand is a very different beast, with two 3.7 litre Volvo's, needing only 900 rpm to maintain a proper river speed, albeit with much more wash than the Broom, so no liberty taking with the odd mph any more!

She steers slower, as the total rudder size is probably less than the Brooms rather generous unit, but I'm sure this will sharpen up at the much higher speeds she's capable off. the ride is soft, with no roll at all, probably due to the lower superstructure, and huge anvil-like engines mounted down below.
Noise levels are surprisingly low, although not as good as the Broom when upstairs, and there are many more switches to play with/ enhance my manhood with.

Now...to work, registering and so on....:D

Happy days!

Can't beat that bulletproof aquafibre hull. My 30 will be on the market next spring but it's replacement will have to have outside steering, I couldn't be without that. Interesting replacement and good price.:)

Cheers ladies and Gent. :)

CEXy, you were right, far more wash than the Broom, just have to keep the speed right down, as we could take a few liberties until now! This one isn't as forgiving...:p

She's all up and running, but needs some sprucing up inside, a few defunct electrical devices removed, some sexy new LED lighting installed (ROSS! Where are you!?) and the new name stuck on...

Probably loads more over the years, but we all knew that :D

Well done on the plane (saw the other thread). And don't tell No Regrets / 50 Shades of Gay that his new boat looks great and I'm jealous.

Will you be changing your forum username as well? Life wouldn't be the same round here without daily living in fear and trepidation of seeing "No Regrets" against a new thread/post !!

Personally, I think you should have called the new toy "Harry Potter" ........

Have a look through the site for lots of ideas...

I currently four strips of RGB tape in my saloon controlled by a Zen four zone controller (just using one of the zones). Got the tape ready to go into my main cabin when I get time, plans for cockpit and flybridge to come.

This is the type (although not brand..) of kit going into the new big Fairlines. Any colour (including white) pastel or saturated, dimmable, remote controllable etc etc..

Worried it would look a bit Halfords, but it doesn't. I use it as a colour wash in conjunction with my normal halogen cabin lights, variable intensity so it can be bright for parties or very subtle for everyday use.

How did you sell the Broom 30 so quickly - part ex?

Good Broom 30's (in particular with upper steering) like good Freemans don't hang around for long. The accommodation offered in it's 30' would be hard to beat. The mere mention of them to brokers and they start drooling. If it was a part ex it would have been a good price even at the end of the season I am sure.

Sounds a bit 'pimp my boat' but NR might go for that given his chosen boat name.:D

Thank you Gentlemen, including the hilarious () Moxy/Shed comedy duo....sigh...

Ross, I think you're right, it has a pleasant assortment of round caravan style lights, all which amazingly work, which could be replaced by RGB strips in the forward cabin and wheelhouse, while possibly a few LEDs in other areas such as Bedroom and shower...

Call me up at your leisure! Also needs a few defunct electrical bits removed to tidy up electrics plz...

The rest of it appears to be OK for now, but I'm sure plenty will crop up :p

The rear cabin looks a bit like part of a Brothel (I would imagine) anyway, so the addition of a large mirror, hanging riding crop and dubious lighting should ensure plenty of fun :D:eek::p

That was my concern when I did mine - people like it so much I've done a few more since.

Like I say, it can be turned right down for a really subtle effect. Mine are up behind the curtains, and the cabin feels much smaller with them off...
