New Boat Launch Goes Wrong

I was sent it.

There is so little free board, thank f**k it did sink on launch and they didn't fully load it with passengers. The wake from a water boatman would swamp it.

No doubt they will overcome this little mishap and the next installment will be "Chinese Pleasure Boat Capsizes - 1000 drowned."

Doesn't look inherently unreasonable for a smooth-water riverboat.

As for it swamping through being launched on a slope, our very own narrowboats have exactly the same problem. Fine as long as they're floating, but if you take them onto tidal water, ground, and dry out, if the bottom's not level they're liable to fill up instead of float off when the water comes back. As chronicled by Nathan last year.

At least us, hardly shiningly bright, amateur boaters know that.

The builders should have been a bit more canny.
