Hi there,

I'm looking at a new, taller boat. Been on a narrowboat a few years and travelling from the far end of cheshunt (on the lea) to just past islington and back. Would a max height draft of 7.8 be an issue on the lea? I have found that the stort has very low bridges so I guess that would be out of bounds for me. But what about the rest of the lea?

I know it all depends on the height of the water and it changes regularly, which is why I think a 7.8 draft might be slightly too big. I saw a post somewhere saying 7.8 is the max to get by on the lea but I am slightly in doubt. Perhaps I should get the roof shortened by a foot or two, or maybe she's not worth it.

Anyway, just wanted to throw it out there for some advice.

Also, the roof is a hard top (non-collapsable)

The Canal and River Trust are responsible for most of the canals and they have complete information on depths and bridge clearances on their website.

Probably better posting this on a forum dedicated to inland waterways.
