so I have just brought home a 1992 Four Winns 235 vista ( I really hope some one here has 1 of these )

so yesterday the guy had it running , but last night he tried to re start it nd turn over not firing , I think from the back storey the fuel is old and shitty , so I reckon its pulled some crap through . it has a spin on type fuel filter ( looks like a older car oil filter ) I have a few numbers off it but not many , so will try to source a replacement ( see pics below ) , also im guessing the carb is full of sludge , now I know a fair bit about American cars and generally a 4 Farrell carb made by Holley has a 10 year shelf life before needing a extensive rebuild and a lit of setting up again , how ever also in the car world a edelbrock carb will run out of the box as new with no playing around with . so I need to identify the Holley if poss so I can source a replacement ( again another pic ill add below )
sticking with the fuel system the tank looks to be sealed away somewhere as the pipe goes through the bulk head , so need to locate the main tank and drain and if needed clean also then replace the rubber hoses with fresh . now there is a shower in there with hot and cold taps , any idea what heats the water ? , any help would be great .ill add pics , give me 5 min

The Water is likely to be heated via the engine cooling water into a small Calorifier, Just like the hot water cylinder in a house. If the Boat has shore power it will probably also have an immersion heater.

The 'fuel' filter you describe is very likely to be a water separation filter and not strictly a fuel filter but it could be a fuel filter.

I suspect that at the age you mention it likely has and OMC 5 ltr engine which is a largish beast giving about 215 hp.

If at all possible see if you can connect a remote tank to the fuel line and see if it will fire up that way.

If ordering a new carb make sure you specifically get one for marine use. Marine carbs are certified for the use, living in a confined cavity inside a boat, as opposed to a car where the engine bay is well ventilated and any spills will just disappear. And petrol fumes in a closed room of course is highly explosive.

If you have an OMC engine and sterndrive be aware that the manufacturer went into bankruptcy 21 years ago and spares can be close to impossible to find. If in need of repair make sure you can get all you need before you even start.

engine wise im pretty sure most bits are still available as a pattern part , out drive prob a different matter , ive been led to believe its a good unit and the videos show it to be true he sent me

edelbrock do a marine specific carb thats a 600 cfm unit , which I think is the holleys specs , so that should not be a issue and only £550 but its worth that for peace of mind it won't cause me a issue further down the line

You have made those Pics a little too small. Go for Medium not small when you email. The other 2 buttons I cannot make out the lettering above but they could just be for Trim Tabs that dont look to be there in the rer pic of the boat..

That is a mighty triple axel trailer you have there

the trailer tows like a total dream to be honest , we did 140 miles back with it today

If those Switches say Bow and Stern it would suggest they are for the leg trim. The trim tab you posted pic of looks a fixed one but I may easily be wrong. It is quite an old boat so things could easily have been changed over the years.

What did you tow that beast with ?
