Needles crossing and round the island passage

Tom, I'm not being horrible here, but what you have done is ask the team to do your homework - and they have done.

It would be much better if you did your own homework ie. passage plan and submit it here for appraisal. I think you will learn much faster. If you have made a mistake? Join the club. The team won't be nasty.

A plan B just in case will have them purring.

Hi EdWingfield if this is what you think I did I can only apologize at this point, though I'm not too sure 'I've asked the team to do my own homework' . I feel I proposed what I would do, something hopefully made a bit of sense and quite several times was corrected (eg use of North channel as a plan b, +4 to be anticipated, other hazards list etc). General weather condition for not going i didn't know so I asked for general guidance. Also, I wanted to focus only in key aspects on which I didn't feel confident in order not to ask too many questions really, as the rest I thought I'd be able to build on top myself in the passage when at the boat with the charts. But to your point yes of course I could have done more research on the solent in general, read more books and submit a full passage plan. I felt it was a fair approach possibly in line with other threads i read in this forum, but it seems I might have misinterpreted. Apologies to the team, and thanks again all for the kind help. Tom

it will yes, but i figured not knowing a lot the area id rather treat the crew and myself at the end of the day and in preparation for possibly demanding next day.. thank you

A buoy outside and a ferry trip probably about the same price as a walk-ashore berth. Don't let them get too cosy in the pub or you might miss your tide.
