Navtex versus Weatherman

I was considering purchasing a Clipper Naxtex (especially at the current price of £170.00 until Sunday only!). However, I have also seen the Clipper Weatherman at the same price, and am now trying to make a decision as to which would be preferable.

My cruising area is principally the north coast of France from Le Havre to Southern Brittany and I require to be able to receive coastal weather forecasts and outlooks in English (navigation warnings are not as important!) when out of range of our local coast station.

Has anyone any experience of either product and able to give any pros or cons of each, or indeed have experience of both products?
I am aware that there have been a number of postings on these products, but none making specific comparisons of both products.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
David

Clipper is excellent.

Any threads I've read seem to conclude if its either/or then Navtex more valuable than a Weatherman

Bit disappointed with my Weatherman!!. I thought as it had 4 frequencies it would get a better chance than navtex for picking up signals.
I did not really understand the implications of something relying on German forecasts. Firstly the areas that are split into lots of detail are the German Baltic coast areas. If you want to sail that area Great!.
The area for Thames is on a 5 day forecast & you get just what you see in the advert, ie a very sketchy forecast.
The channel is not broken into English sections ie Dover white etc etc. But you only get Eastern channel & Western Channel. As you are aware the weather up the channel varies a lot so the forcast is a bit inaccurate for some areas. You can get weather info but as I am hopeless at understanding weather patterns It is not a lot of use to me . I just learnt to sail in force 8 plus single handed & hope I don't get sea sick!!
I wish I had bought the standard Navtex. The one saving grace is that I have never had signal failure. Mind you it would help if I could speak German
