Thanks, I wasn't thinking of running it on a phone but putting it straight onto the tablet.
For planning and playing I don't really want HD, or the extra cost.

I do not promise it will work I did it a year or 2 back and have not tried again since. SO no promises....

Got the older UK & Holland App on my Android phone. Would be nice to see it on a 10" screen. I'll try the Astro File Manager to see if I can install a copy on my wife's Galaxy Note! If it works, I'll let you know.I'll then have to work out how to get regular access to the Note:nonchalance:

I have an early navionics on my phone but unfortunately it is no longer updated and it is not comparable with my android tablets.

I have the HD version (UK and Holland) on a nexus 7 from when it was first available, it works very well.

I have just loaded it to a nexus 10 as well (from 'my APS') and it only took a couple of minutes. A most interesting point is that it is completely up to date with regards to the mapping and all the exclusion zones around the construction of the new Forth crossing and I have not paid for any updates.
The other thing is that with all the UK charts loaded into the nexus 10 it only uses 55.62MB of memory compared with the 586MB the new C-Map Plan 2Nav for tablets plus some charts takes. In both cases that is without adding any routes or tracks.

As a footnote. I have found that the nexus 10 is heavier on the internal battery than the nexus 7. Because of that I use a pogo connector(£20) to supply power to it instead of the very fragile mini USB plug. This connector fits into the bottom of the 10 and is held in place by small magnets. It is much more robust than the USB thing and charges at a higher rate. This allows the tablet to be used continuously without the power dropping off when high demand resources are being used (ie full screen brightness in daylight)

Couldn't get Astro file Manager to copy & move the Navionics folder from the phone to the Cloud ( I tried Drop Box & Google Drive, but it kept falling down after taking ages attempting to transfer files). I will try again later today with a different android file manager app.

I think I did it through a memory card or USB tranfarre.

I transfered uk and holland from my android phone to my wifes hudl by simply going to google play click on my apps and you will see all your installed apps on the Tablet. You will also see the apps you may have purchased on your mobile including Uk and holland but they will just be listed as purchased. You just click on install and you get it on your tablet. looks fine even if its not HD.
Remember to log on in google play with the same email address as on your mobile.

@TSB40. I've just logged on to post that after searching on Google, I found a few references to fact that the original app install stays on your google Play account & you can reinstall on the new device simply by logging in to your own Gmail account on that new device using settings. This worked and you have obviously successfully done the same!

PS Wife not too chuffed to find out what I'd done as she fears losing the Tablet for planning (I don't have one)or me actually asking for it to take out to sea. As if I would:D

PPS I also note the upgrades and add-ons tab is activated on the Galaxy Note installed version, (not functioning on my Android phone version). Gives opportunity of purchasing maps of other world areas (not needed) but also a generic upgrade for £2-£3. Anyone know what that is & whether if I did the upgrade, it would shoot my free maps download set up?

The one above is also very good. I have only released an iBook on it this very day. I really liked the app and I've tried quite a few.

Different apps are good at different things but you can't go far wrong with either iSailor, Marine Imray or Navionics.

iSailor is very good value if you are mostly a home waters sort of cove. (The charts would add up to be quite expensive if you go very far afield). Marine Imray is raster scanned charts and has a very reliable and traditional feel. Navionics has nice big easy to read data when navigating in real time with GPS.

Regards Chris.
