A new model - with guarantee etc. @ £380 seems a good price. Plus a wide C map at £180. £560 total. Is this a route worth going down or are they now outdated technology and I should just stick to my GPS ?

Bargain!

Sounds like a good deal - is it at Seamark Nunn?

Tracker 5500 certainly isn't outdated, it's a really user-friendly chartplotter with loads of features.

I have a Navman 5500. There was no surprise that earlier this year it was the most popular choice on PBO. A great device, especially if you have it mounted where you can see it from the helm.

PBO rated it very highly though I must say that I would personally prefer the larger screen on the 5600. Like you though I have seen the 5500 at £380 and at this price it is a steal. I too will buy one tomorrow!

Where did you see it please at this price, I need to replace an old fixed GPS and althought I already have a 5500i in the cockpit this is as good as a fixed GPS for down below to run our DSC and Yeoman. PM if you don't want to start a goldrush...

Strangely quiet on where to buy....

£380 is around £160 cheaper than the lowest "discount" prices in pbo etc, though had been expecting a reduction after the £380 lowrance colour plotter

Good price, I am considering buying it online in the US, it's for same at USD 600 (which is more or less GBP 380 after you have added sales tax UPS pays for you at customs). If you know a cheaper adress let me know.
Does anyone know if there's a different map on it when you buy it overseas?

Map on overseas purchases...

I seem to think the built-in map on my 5600 is a global map, so it would be the same wherever you bought it. The built-in map is a very rudimentary affair, and wouldn't normally be used.
