Hi,

I know that there are a number of Navionics threads on here, but my question isnt about the difference between HD and iPhone versions of the software...

I was wondering what the difference was between having the

Navionics HD Boating Marine & Lakes app, with in-app downloads for UK&Holland @ 49.99 compared to
Navionics UK&Holland HD @ 54.99!! I also note that this also has in-app purchases, so I can only assume its for extra charts??

Why is there a 5 difference? Its 10% at the end of the day...

I have the I phone version which when I bought it was non HD, and have run it on my I pad for several years. It comes on the screen at I phone size and there is a 2x button that you press to fill the screen . There is still a very small margin around the edge but it is insignificant. I compared it to the HD I pad version on another I pad and not much difference. Mind you the I phone version I bought cost £18 at the time. You now have to pay a yearly fee for upgrades each year for new buoy positions etc. I don’t do that , but I do have my own waypoints for some buoys which I change each year if needed. If I was buying now I would go for the I pad version.

The screen resolution is much better on the iPad version when it runs on the iPad than the iPhone version when it runs on the iPad. Both will work however.

Thanks all,

But this is not about the differences between nonHD and HD version... Both of the apps listed are iPad apps... one comes with no charts and allows in app charts... the other I believe comes with the chart... but are the charts and functionality not the same???
