I've been using the Navionics app on a tablet for the past year and only just found an undocumented feature. I say undocumented as I've never found any documentation. If anyone has found a manual, do let me know.

Anyway, as users will know, there's a tool that puts two pushpins on the chart and shows the distance and bearing between them. If you drag one of the pins to the boat icon and the other to your destination, the first one will stay pinned to the boat and continuously show bearing and distance to the other as the boat moves. Very handy for a quick view of where you're going. Of course, you can select a marker and click on "boat to" to give more information, e.g. ETA, but that creates a route that is automatically saved - a bit annoying. This method can be a useful alternative.

Hope that helps someone.

We use that feature a lot - for example to see how far we are off a headland and what the changing bearing is.

Well found SimonD!

That's something I didn't know about and may well find useful.

The only book I know of is 'Navionic HD Unleashed' by Richard Fairman but I don't think it measures that feature you have discovered.

nb the book is written for iPad users.

Whilst the experts are assembled does anyone know how to delete markers and routes ?

On iOS (I don't know about Android):

To delete a marker, tap Menu->Markers to get the list of markers and swipe the one you want to delete to the left - this reveals a red bin which you tap to delete the marker.

Similarly with routes, tap Routes->My routes archive to get the list of routes and swipe the one you want to delete to the left - this reveals a red bin which you tap to delete the route.

Thanks Mike very helpful. I do think my in built intuitive is not the same as softward designers !
I know what you mean (and I’ve spent 40 years developing software!). At least it’s consistent - deleting emails, messages etc all work the same way, swipe left to reveal the bin.
