yes they work..but....I bought one and fitted it last year and was dissapointed with "non damping" and "flashing"of info..theres another thread somwere sometime ago..also mine has gone wrong but I will say that nasa have and are being very healpful...
You could buy mine - if you like. I wish I'd never fitted it on my boat. Comapred to raymarine, the equipment is useless. One year old so £100 (but take my advice and buy a better make).
I have fitted over ten of these and had no problems whatsoever. Read teh manual for the depth on the GAIN and you should be very pleased. For the price there is nothing to touch them but of course if you want teh Rolls Royce then you will have to pay twice as much. Kind Regards Steve Birch
I'm looking for a short cut in fitting a new Nasa Duet Depth and Log, I currently have and old Bi-data depth and log that only reads in feet.
I would like to fit a new Duet display that reads in metres or feet, Question : Can I use the existing log paddle wheel and depth transducer that's fitted through the hull or do I have to fit the Duet kit as supplied with new log and transducer ??
I'd rather not disturb the the hull fittings I currenlty have if possible.
I think you will find that the Bidata and Nasa systems use different freuencies for the depth so both tranducers will have to be changed. Are you sure the BiData cannot be changed to read in metres, I have one and it was just a chnage in the setup. If you want to get rid of the Bi-Data then I may be interested.
I used my existing NKE sounder which works ok. I checked with Nasa if it was OK to cut wires and they said fine. If it fails at least you can rejoin the cable. Generally works ok but readings below 1.5 M are unreliable despite gain adjustments - beware on ebb tide as I have found to my cost.
