Name that boat ...........

this was easy, its the Queens Yachts another new Italian company, I have been watching them for a while with a bit attention to be honest to see what they do and where they arrive
and that is the 45 L.E.

for Mapis
the Magnum 53 Maltese was launched in 1978, the Maltese hull is used for Magnum 56 and 60
the Bestia has the hull of the old Magnum 45
all incredible boats

PY, what make is the tender in front of that Queens 45LE? The one on the left with the white outboard, not the Zodiac/Yamaha one

Thnaks Chris. Blimey I cant keep up with the zillions of RIB manufs these days

That looks the biz. I was aiming to get the Walker Bay but it seems impossible to get my hands on one the right spec in the UK unless I pay special shipping charges (£2k), due to Barrus not importing the (Hypalon) model I want. Jeeze. So i'd love to abandon the W'bay idea. But I dont want the 200kg Zodiac et al jobs

This Lomac is 90kg which is a tiny bit lighter than W'Bay even. Right, now to find a dealer. I think there's one in Plymouth...

Edit - thanks Mapis - great minds think alike. I'm not worried about the engine, especially if it's Selva!

You're quite right , it could well be a Johnson, but I noticed this year in the med that Selvas are very popular, and I'm sure the 'grooves' in the top are a sign of a new Selva, but I could be wrong, as always /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Lomacs are also pretty popular in the SoF jfm, there's loads in Port Grimaud!

There are no UK dealers :-(. I have a van coming from SofF back to UK week after next, so I'm gonna see if I can buy one now in France and ship it back! There are a few dealers nr Antibes!

Blimey, buying a tender is a lot harder than buying the mothership!

If you're over in PG at any point you may find one going that's used and up for sale - people with big boats or houses/apartments use them as tenders over the summer then sell them off cheap at the end of the season, according to a friend I was speaking to whilst down there...

4 meters LOA would be too much I guess?
Because if not, have a look at this beast (sorry, the English pages seem to require a password for some reason).
Granted to blow away any single hull RIB you might have tried so far - not to mention how better it is at slalom waterski.

I don't think this is what you're after layout wise, but i'll post it anyway just in case, called the AB Rider, it's hypalon, 3.2m and takes a 30hp. It's 137kg though, which is sort of in between.

They have a dealer in Holland web page

Pay attention on Lomac.
My tender is a 300lx (the pictured one could be a 300lx) and I think it's a BAD tender.

- With a 20Hp 4 stroke Honda engine, planing is difficult.

- There is a lot of water coming inside even in case of minimal swell

- you can have a 2nd person sitted with you in the back (and so you will never plane), or that person has to sit too far toward the bow (inconfortable and very very wet place).

Thnaks Massiweb. I wonder how much those faults are unique to Lomac? I think they would occur an any 3m RIB?

I think the 3.5m with 30hp will plane better than the 3.0m with 20hp. Also the engine will have power trim, which helps.

It wont be perfect, but its faults will be similar to the faults I'd have with say the Walker Bay 3.5m and others.

BTW, sorry the thread highjack onto my tender troubles agian. It's such an effort this tender. I decided on the Walker Bay (despite some dissatisfactions Hurricane has with his, one season on) but Barrus just can't supply one on any reasonable terms. Serendipitously this LOMAC has landed in my lap today (thanks to all who've pointed me to it above) and is suddenly the front runner! I'll try to find a dealer who has one in stock tomorrow.

if all tender have this troubles then Lomac more because they weight at about 30% more
check also for Novamarine (company wasnt healthy recently) and Nouvrania are they still there, I would go for the these 2 for super quality tenders
agree 3.5 metres plus Lomac weigh and 20 hp is too little

The LOMAC 3.5 weighs 90kg. That isn't heavy, and not 30% more. It is lighter than any other 3.5m I have seen, Walker Bay, Avon, Zodiac, etc. In fact Avon/Zodiac are close to 200kg

I'll look at Nova and Nouv, thanks

Pity about the Prestige catamaran, would have been a cracker.
More than good enough with 20hp, and capable of 45+ kts with 40hp - so I'm told. And veeery spacious.

Back to Lomac, I also think that you can hardly avoid the defects Massiweb is complaining about, on any small RIB.
Besides, he's talking about the 3m, whilst the one in my link (which I guess is the one you're considering) was the 3.5m. On that size, it does make a difference.
The only weird thing about it is the max power of 35hp, which rules out a number of interesting 40hp engines, if you need to comply with insurance etc.
Last but not least - fwiw - Lomac overall reputation is not bad at all.

mm then thats it
my calcuations where based on my friend 2.4 metre Lomac rib
which weighs 55 kg, compared with the 30 for a Zodiac of a similar size and an Avon which weighs 35
it is 4 or 5 years old now, so things might have changed also and the model replaced

Ah, ok. I really need a 3.3 or 3.5m, and these are all 100-130kg for the lighter ones (WBay, Novu ST, Lomac, etc) and nearly 200kg for the ones with stianless steel rails and too-big internal GRP (Avon Seasport, Zodiac yachtline, Novu DL)

Also WBay and Lomac boats take short shaft engines, whereas the others are long. Short is better. Less weight, and less bathing platofrm space used up when it is tilted.

Novamarine dont have a steering wheel version according to website.

I agree with Mapis, that Massiweb's complaints are always going to happen on a 3m RIB, and to some extent a 3.6m

Mapis I'm happy with the Honda 30hp. It's very light, 72kg, so that's fine. It'll be fast enough!

Right, I am sick of thinking about tenders. I have decided - it's gonna be a Lomac 3.6m (a brand I hadn't even noticed till B175Chris's post a few hours ago!) and Honda. And it turns out there is a LOMAC dealer in UK, Norfolk, just 100miles from where my new boat is, so I'll call them tomorrow

Thanks folks. I promise not to talk about this again for ages :-)
