My weekend

Very nice

What did you use?
I wet sanded using 2500 paper on the poorly faded or scratched areas.
Then machined using G3 cutting compound all over with a hard foam pad.
Changed to a soft foam pad for the 3M fine cutting liquid. Finished off with two coats of Starbrite uv protection polish.
Saved £300-400 by DIY.

It's well worth the effort. I always sit back and admire my work after it's done :)

How deep were your scratches that you had to wet-dry sand it? Thankfully, to date, i've never had to do this. Any pics of the before?

A very unusual place for the fuel filler!

A very unusual place for the fuel filler!
Some were too deep so I didnt want to go down too far but others were light ones made by the fenders.
I am thinking off finding a clear plastic protection film like you would have on mobile phone screens. Do you know of a product large enough for protecting small areas on boats?

Yes not easy place to fill up off a high pontoon. One extra thing to consider when buying the next boat.

Just get fender socks maybe?

You could change that fuel filler by removing the pipe from the filler and moving it elsewhere... obviously it'll involve extending the pipe and drilling a hole and installing a new filler cap! Can't believe Bayliner would put it in there

My fenders did come with socks but after mooring against banks and going through locks they tended to hold onto the grit and scratch even more. So got shot of them.

I'll put up with the filler position until the next boat. Water tank filler is also on the same side towards middle but thats not too much of problem by using a hose.
