My wife has a very juvenile sense of humour and thinks that ‘Wynand Fockink’ said in a Dutch accent is hilariously funny.
She is (a) much younger than me (b) somewhat the worse for three cocktails at the Bols Experience and half a bottle of wine.

Day Skipper at Rhu Marina for me on this nice little Targa 35

That’s something I’ll need to think about if/when we get a new boat and go to Europe. I did the Powerboat one years ago when I got the Bayliner but it was in a rib, would need to find something a bit like that.
Mind you, it was quite laughable watching the LeBoat guy giving the ‘training’ to a young Dutch couple who got their boat just before us today. Did even less with us as we are ‘experienced’ And I then zigzagged away as the thing is so slow to respond. The wife took to it very well though, the gentle touch!

That looks like a fun boat !
Light boat with two VP 350hp and duoprop outdrives, she has more than a bit of go in her, she will top out at about 40 knots. Was doing around 18 - 19 knots at 2000rpm. very manoeuvrable and quick to respond, handles quite different than the Ocean 37.

Have a great holiday over there :)

There were supposed to be four of us on the course but only two of us turned up, so we got plenty of helm time today :)

Tomorrow we will be doing the night passage so it will be a long day, then we will be going off around the isle of Bute.

Sounds a bit like mine although we are ‘only’ 220hp each and she hits about 36 but you can see the fuel gauges plummet at that speed. This little canal boat is so different with a single 40hp Nanni shaft drive, takes forever to get up to speed and to respond to the wheel. I’m guessing the Brooms will be somewhere in between. Seen two old Brooms today already, a 35 and a big one which I think was a Monarch but had no badging.

Started off good with nice weather today, stopped at Utrecht to have dinner with wife’s sister and husband and they are staying onboard to Gouda.

Oh, by the way, I downloaded that Waterkaraten app you recommended, it really is a lovely, well designed app and much better than relying on LeBoat’s paper map.
The wife and sister already been planning lots of places to go when we get our own boat.
