This is a rather unremarkable view of South West Fuertaventura.
It caught my interest by its ww2 history. Down there is a villa that during the war was owned by Herr Winter. This was used as a radio relay station for U boats. Also the submarines would surface nearby and land some crew by dinghy each night. Then dive during daylight to carry out maintenance unobserved.
Whilst ashore the crew would be treated to things like fresh fruit, beer and ladies of negotiable affection.
Access on land was by a long unmade road, almost impassable for cars and difficult for supply lorries. Rumour has it that there may have been a small airstrip too.
As Spain was neutral allies couldn't assault the villa even though it was know about. The supply ships bought their stuff over from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria where allied spies could report on vessel movement and deduce that a u boat was nearby. Intrigue at its best.

My semaphore skills must be getting rusty, I read that as "come alongside, bring beer"
They misread the signal then. They brought wine (quite unnecessarily as it happens but gratefully received.)

It was lovely to catch up with them again

And before anyone thinks it’s all idyllic and blue skies and sunshine it BUCKETED with rain much of last night to the point that we had two inches plus of water in the dinghy this morning.

The wife just took me out to the port for a drink.....of course I deserve it. I’m the type of man most women dream of marrying. I do as I’m told....don’t answer back....in fact, you wouldn’t know I was in the same room
