Any ideas about if it is possible to get it working? the android version seems the same but google apps says not compatible when I try to install it?

Navionics removed the device restriction a few months ago so you can install the HD one on a phone and vice versa. Does the hudl have a GPS in it? As it wouldn't install if that was missing.

You will find that the Avionics charts will be installed even if the tablet does not have integrated GPS, but naturally, it will not show a position

My best suggestion is to take it back since it will be only a few days old (the hudl) and get a nexus 7.

Thanks, is that the old Navionics Europe west that covers south coast down to Canaries? if that works on the Nexus that might be a better option.

The hudl is very good and has gps but it would be nice to have the Navionics on it.

I had this issue.

The version of Navionics I bought 5 yes ago is no longer in the Play store. Navionics say that even though still supported they won't release the apk installer.
The apk is encrypted and even from a rooted phone can't be side loaded as you can't get the correct public key from the Navionics server.

Navionics require £50 for an upgrade on software that cost £12.50.

Never tried side loading so no idea.

Slight drift, I splashed out on navionics HD UK last night and love it so far, but was cursing a bit that you can't export import routes, but if you go into the navionics folder they are in there stored as kmz files. Cool.

Suggest you try "GPS Nautical Charts"-they are based on AdmiraltyRNCs-you can download the whole lot for UK for about £20 or as needed.
Works on my Samsung Galaxy phone-yet to try it on my in the post £5 Hudl
