My friend wants a boat for the Thames

I advised not petrol get Diesel engines if possible. He wants a family boat and he loves fishing.

What boats would the panel advise looking at?

Wot I thought before paging down to your post. Problem is that not many with diesel in that price range (??)

There are some 24's and 26's
Not quite so common in the others, but they do exist.

or there's a really cheap 23 on the forum (link below) needs some work, but get a diesel fitted and it would be worth a lot more

Stay away from the small to medium sports boats, Not ideal for night outs/ weekends with the family.
Great boats if you want to open them up on the coast or lakes, local to you. Great for pulling toys.
There are a few local to me on the river, that spend there time, doing a lap from Temple island (folley) under Henley bridge up to marsh lock . Over and over again.

Osney bridge in Oxford is a dead end to a lot of boats, however it's lovely above it

If he isn't put off by an older boat, is happy to get his hands dirty(or pay someone else to)and is prepared to cough up for 31ft of mooring space per annum, this looks like a lot of well looked after boat and within his budget.
