Aye, right!
Why is a Musto Ocean Gortex jacket so expensive? £350.
How much do you reckon Musto actally pay to have them made?
My guess is a tenth of that. £35.
By the way, are you in Gosport boatyard at the moment? we are along side each other - or we were on Tuesday....
Not Gosport Boatyard but a bit further down on Premiers hardstanding.
Tomorrow I shall endeavour once again to get the second half of the cutlass bearing out :-(
I'm armed with all the suggestions from the other thread including stuff to go down the stern tube from the inside and a slide hammer for the outside and 12mm studding to pull through a socket. Failing that I have to wait for the recipricating saw to turn up so I can cut away!
I thought Gore gareneed the product against leeks, maybe contact them directly, it definately should not leek, the outer coating just keeps teh outer fabric dry not your body
Hi Chris, I would'nt be too hasty in blaming Musto, are you not certain its not a bit of un noticed incontinence thats creating the problem? Its not unusual in gentlemen of advanced years with a disposition towards strong drink.
Bet you cant guess what foulies I wear at sea ?
Fluorescent high visability yellow builders/land workers lined jackets & trousers.
Fully lined, waterproof zips and valcro seams. You cant beat them. Often/ Usually ex Government surplus available at £25 a set. Compare that with the 4 or 5 hundred quid or more the weekend sucker yachties pay for similar clothing because it has got a makers name on it ?. Serves just as well as the stuff suckers buy at xxx £££.
When will the weekend sailors realise what fools they are ?
Does anyone still manufacture the good old heavy duty nylon jackets. I still have my old Henry Loyd jacket which must be circa 20 years old with only the velcro needing to be replaced.
If all this washing lark is required with Gortex I'd be delighted if there was an alternative, albeit a sweaty one.
