One of the consequences of our cancelled trip on Saturday was an early return to Chatham Maritime where our berth had been allocated to a visitor. No worries as we had said we would be out for three days and its one of those things.

We were allocated a berth two main pontoons away from our usual where we met lots of new people we would otherwise only nod at in passing. Others who had planned trips and had been frustrated had also moved around within the marina to be nearer their friends.

So if the weather is going to continue to be so lousy, and diesel prices rocket throught the roof, perhaps this could be the way forward to get off our berths? Come Monday we were all properly returned to our usual homes and order was restored.

Best bit of the weekend? Creaming down the Medway on Friday evening at 20 knots, then dining on the aft deck in Sharfleet Creek with complete ignorance of the coming blow!

Glad we left on Friday for our little trip, all nice and cosy on Saturday in St Kats (they got some cancellations), although I did spend 3 hours cutting away at a plastic sheet wrapped round the starboard prop, made life interesting getting through the lock. Don't think the PLA's policy of sweeping up the debris with visitors boats is very fair!
More pallets, sleepers etc than I remember last time.

So St Kats were lying!! Said they were full otherwise we would have headed west and bounced up the Thames.

Having said that, still not sure about the risks from debris. Brought a 42 footer into the SK lock with a rope around one prop in full view of the ususal tourist spectator fleet hanging over the lock. Not much fun so sorry to hear your plight. Seems the PLA policy is working, though.
