I was looking at a broker's listing of a boat and amongst the sails listed was
'MPG'. Anyone know what that stands for?

According to white sails..

M.P.G

In this day of non-over lapping headsails, you can now double your light-wind speed. The M.P.G. is a free standing straight luffed nylon genoa sheeted well aft.

The M.P.G has a vectran luff rope which can be winched up hard for windward work, and comes supplied with its own single line furler. As this is a straight luffed sail, it will only take you to approximately 120° off the wind.

No. A drifter is a small boat used for catching herring.
