mouldy silicone

Hi all looking for some advice,we purchased our boat new in summer of 2007 so nearly 12 months old when doing the deal it was agreed at point of sale that a small amount of silicone around the back of the boat (swim deck area) would be replaced / repaired as it had black mould spots in the actuall silicone which at the time we were told was from construction (ie licking your finger and running it over the silicone) causing bacteria to form and grow, sounds about right weve prob all done it at some time anyway nearly 12 months later and the silicone over most of the boat is realy mouldy and bad the dealer as aranged to come and repair this soon without seeing it he thinks one tube will sort out the prob but wow his he in for a surprise . As any one else had this kind of problem as it seems to be getting worse everytime we visit the boat ?

tried everything from jif to acetone its actually growing in the silicone

Surely silicone isn't the right material to use on the exterior of a boat?

Most likely some kind of polysulphide sealant.

...but if the dealer turns up and slaps a tube of silicone onto the boat it's not going to improve things.
