Moss in window channel

Forum items
Is there an easy to removing and permanently eradicating moss in my window channels?

Patio magic will kill it but it's not a permanent solution. (Except that EU regulations don't allow it to be used for killing moss. !)

Any other benzalkonium chloride based mould/ mildew killer likewise .

I have this problem on a car parked under a tree. A Google search suggests Dettol mould remover is effective. I' m going to try it (unless this thread produces better ideas!).

Take care with Dettol mould and Mildew remover . It is chlorine bleach based and also contains, as chlorine bleach products always do, a little caustic soda. It might not be too good for the car paint work! I prefer to use a bleach free benzalkonium chloride based product.

Try neat bleach or Jesus Fluid - but not together!

Bleach is effective but you do have to be careful that is is not detrimental to what you are treating, The effect may not be immediately apparent . It's not until something starts to disintegrate a year or two later that you realise the harm that it can do.

Thanks for the warning! Can you please recommend a brand of "bleach free benzalkonium etc etc"?

Try Milton like what your mum kept your titty bottle clean with

Milton is again a chlorine based product More dilute than household bleach and much more expensive,
There is no merit in using Milton for purposes other than those for which it is sold over diluting beach by about twice as much AFAICS.

Well diluted Patio Magic.
Polycell 3 in 1 mould killer.
Numerous other bleach free ones I am sure

I use this one around the house ( Bath mat, shower curtain. window frames, little mould patches in damp corners etc) although it's expensive . Probably dilute some Patio magic to refill the bottle next time though.

I found a steam cleaner the best thing to get the stuff out with the assistance of a small stiff bottle brush. Then a dose of patio magic, and at this time of year worth spraying thing the whole boat down in the stuff. A 2 litre bottle from B&Q provdes at least two possibly three treatments.

It's great (well diluted) for keeping the freshwater tanks clean and safe over the long term though.
