Hello.
I hope to bring my boat to France next year to the Redon/Nantes area, via the C. d'ille et Rance and the Vilaine.
Is it still possible to find cheap moorings or have those days gone ?
I don't intend staying in marinas, but it may be necessary from time to time and I find that to stay for one week in Redon in July is 622€ for a 11m boat.
Does this reflect a general shift towards increasing mooring costs for boaters or are there still cheap moorings where the basics like water are available.
I would appreciate the experiences of any liveaboards in the area.

There are free pontoons lower down the Vilaine at Beganne and moorings and a quay at the bridge at Cran, which I have never see anyone being charged for. Both involve a 1-2 mile trip to civilisation, though.

I am not a liveaboard, although I am aboard from May till September in France. I don't know of anywhere that charges over six hundred euros a week. The norm is between 20 and 30 Euros per night with discounts for longer stays. Some places are a bit more and some a bit less. Some places increase prices for July and August. The most I have paid this year is 33 Euros a night and the lowest was 6 Euros. Both for walkashore with power, water and showers. 10.5 meter boat.

Thanks for the replies, I'll make a note Quiddle.
Han, I would like to know which moorings in the Redon / Nantes region you recommend.
The figure I mentioned was quoted on Port Booker, which came up when I did a search for moorings at Redon. They quoted identical prices for other marinas in the area.

Deleted my last thread by mistake. I have looked at Port Bookers and compared their prices with the prices I have actually paid this year in a number of marinas. Port Bookers show twice the price at least. Why this is I have no idea. Must be their commission. Try it. Look at Port Bookers price then look at the marinas own online price. Most marinas in north and west France show their prices on line.
