Hi I have a Moody 33 Mk1 1974 which my wife and I will be living on board from July this year. They are great boats, really nice to sail and have loads of space. They have a centre cockpit and aft cabin which we have found to be really useful when having guests to stay as you still have your privacy. We have fould her to be quite fast next to boats of similar size, and she doesn't heel too much also which would make her good for kids. Ours had the original roller boom reefing, which really does require changing and should be considered when looking around. I converted ours to slab reefing really cheeply and easily using some barton cheek blocks mounted onto the boom (£20 max) + rope. I had some rope on the boat already but you would be fine with 8-10m 3 strand nylon (approx 0.70p/m). You still need to leave the cockpit, unless you run all the lines back (but more cost though), however she now reefs easily and quickly.
Great boat with plenty of character, however of course I am a little biased.. Have heaps of photos, if your interested I can email you some.

Kind Regards,

Dave.

We have a Moody 33s which has an aft cockpit with the added advantage of a stern cabin which can be used either closed off or open plan. Boat is very stable and beamy, with lots of living room, which is the reason we bought her in the first place. We intended to use her for long term (6 months +) cruising, but my wife has developed a back problem, so we are now loooking to replace her with a cat. Not nearly so much fun , but at least we can continue sailing.
Can send you photos of you would like.

As you will guess from my web site Moody 36's are really excellent - went round the world and more in mine... They do not come on the market that often but are super long term liveaboards. Ditto all the reefing remarks - I did the same thing - easy and cheap and I added granny bars... pix on the web site.
