Having just visited my "printer cartrige refillers shop" I purchased a clockwork charger for my mobile, for the princely sum of £7-00 who knows when I may need it?
Then I began to think of the ( almost ) Abandoned , Irish fishermen who were not located until they were "in range" with their mobile phone! Supposing their battery had gone flat? my natural progression from there was for me to question why with an alternative power supply (already available through my clockwork charger) and possibly with the inclusion of a registered emergency only circuit, a mobile phone couldn`t be adapted to issue emergency signals like an EPIRB. Do I see a rugged "outdoor user phone" looming on the horizon? Shoot me down in flames someone or is it possible. if it is remember you heard it here first!!!!

they can from your mobile signal triangulate your position now I believe, similar to what they do with the VHF signal.
