Mixing batteries

I am sure the answer is going to be NO but can you mix lead acid and gell batteries? (i.e do I have to replace all three at once to get the benefit of gell)

I know they will be fine when drawing from them but what about the charging system, I've got one of those sterling (I think that's what it's called) charger thingies which I seem to recall has a setting for battery type - I must find that manual...

Don't mix batteries. Gell charge at a lower voltage rate (set on the sterling controller) than the lead acid.

I spoke to the battery people at Southbourne Hants and there is no benefit in using Gell.. I bought silver sealed "lead acid" batteries from them at an excellent price, about 50 quid for 100 A/h ..
