If you have an account for the pay-to-view services provided by the met office (www.meto.gov.uk) called metweb (some of which, e.g. their satelite photos, you can get for free from US websites) then be warned: you are entirely resposible for maintaining your details. So what?
When you first register they take your credit card and address details over the telephone. They will retain these details and use them when you buy more of the tickets that you need to access things like 3 day forecasts.
Sooner or later the credit/debit card that you used to create the account will expire: you will still be able to buy tickets (their website doesn't check your credit card expiry date).
When a payment bounces because the card has expired they will write you a letter. (they don't ask for an email address when you create the account... they have your phone number but they won't use it)
If you have moved house and don't receive their letter they will close your account.
'Because they are part of the ministry of defence' you won't be given the name of anybody to write to with suggestions for ways that the service might be improved (but the person on the helpdesk introduces themselves with a name).
The person on the helpdesk told me that they can see the customer's username and password, which isn't considered best practice in other parts of the IT world.
I haven't been able to find anywhere on their website to maintain address or credit card details or anywhere that you are told to phone them when these things change.
