met stations

I assume that the coast is well supplied with met stations such as CHIMET which can be accessed via internet. Is there a list of these with their lat/long?

Try http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/Maps/United_Kingdom.shtml. This gives a map of weather buoys around the UK and each one has live and last 24 hour weather and sea state info.
