Merriman bronze winches

I have three pairs of Merriman bronze winches - sizes No.3, No.5 and No. 6 plus appropriate handles.

As far as I am aware they are all in good nick and would add considerable authenticity to any classic yacht.

Will separate if any interest in buying.

Hi Richard,

I live too far away ti buy them, but if you look donw the threads, I inquired about a drawing how bronze winches wee made.

I would like to have a picture or a sketch if possible. I have a 21m LOA Gaff Schooner wih about 75 blocks and I am interested in making most things for my boat. I have made my astrolabe and I am busy with a nice brass compass.

Could you help plaese?

I am looking for a pair of bronze winches for the jib (170sq ft) of my 33ft cutter. I think I need size 16 or 32 (ie 16:1 or 32:1) winches but do not know what the Merriman sizes 3, 5 or 6 mean. Would any of yours be suitable? Are they top or bottom action? Are spares still available? What price? Whereabouts are you?
