Right you lot listen here.

Alot of time and effort has been put into arranging this party for you all ,as well as monies donated by MDL to help the costings, everyone said what a great time they had last year and were looking forward to this years event, well over 150 people ( includes guests) gave their commitment to attend and up to last week this was still the case. And the costings were based on this.

After several requests for monies to be sent by Friday they are still a very large number of people who have not responded on the appropriate thread to confirm their monies are on the way.

Brendan has now had to resort to sending PM,s to everyone outstanding which has taken alot of his time to try and get a response. we appreciate peoples situations change at the last minute but its their reponsibility to let us know not wait for a Pm and then reply " oh no sorry not coming" would they have ever told us.

Although we had allowed for some drop outs we thought 2 weeks in advance for final numbers should have been enough bearing in mind we do have to make a commitment to the caterers. because of this the event could now be in jeopardy if many more people drop out, so if you cant make it please let Brendan know now to give us a chance to try and rescue the event for the sake of everyone else.

Bear in mind please you cannot pay on the night anyone arriving with a boat who has not paid up will be charged for their mooring as the harbour office will have a list, and there will be no execptions.

Sorry to sound harsh ( no im not sorry) but have some respect for the organisers and the people who have paid. if your not coming tell us .and if you havent paid then your not coming.

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE

Re: and.....

smallish boat with a few miles of water between berth and BBQ but, being 'alone', it is less likely that I will be put off by the weather. S to East 6+ anywhere in the weekends forecast would probably have me travelling by car for example!
I am afraid my commnet was a little bit of a snide dig at anyone who might have pulled out merely because their boat wasn't available/clean/fast enough/flash enough/fitted with the right electronics/fitted with the right safety gear (whoops - bit far with that one) you get the picture?...........Brendan has put a hell of a lot into this and deserves all the support we can give him.

Re: and.....

Well said Duncan....... you don't need a boat to come. There's lots of accommodation nearby. You can come in your cars. No excuses

Re: pink things

It is easy to paint an outboard cover - I have changed mine to black cause I thought it would look better, (and it stands out thus making it less attractive to steal)

Re: and.....

I Totally agree with your sentiments. If you commit to something like this then you should not pull out at the last minute. I would suggest that Brendan has taken on a hard enough job woithout the anxieties that this sort of behaviour causes.

Come on you lot - buck up! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: Anyone in contact with these forumites?

The PM's chased many out of the woodwork.

The following are still to confirm whether or not attending. If anyone has email or phone numbers for them, or knows how to contact them, could you ask them to log into Mercury forum and say whether coming or not. Or if they are on holiday or away, could anyone who knows, let me know, as they are not responding to the pm. Thanks

Re: and.....

I, for one, really wanted to be at Mercury - Last year was fantastic -
I left it as long as possible for my situation to change but it hasnt.

And for those of you that think it might be because my boat "wasn't available/clean/fast enough/flash enough/fitted with the right electronics/fitted with the right safety gear" then your wrong.

Re: and.....

Sandra,

Comments not aimed at you I hope, or anyone in particular. Just that Ian Ainge and I did financial plans around the number of people who said they would attend, and then allowed for reasonable drop out.

Some gave us plenty of warning they were dropping out, like Zef, and bless his heart has offered to pay anyway. Others warned me of possible issues, so we could plan for them being in or out. In the meantime, we went with best information available, after numerous posts asking for info on who was attending.

It's only in the past week that many people have let us know they cannot come, while others like Trazie have booked flights to attend so will take a considerable hit if we cannot pull it off. Others again like Nick/Joanne, let me know early that there was an issue with the boat being there, so I kept the berth open until I knew one way or another.

Ian managed to negotiate a price for the marquee that included us getting seats and tables and all the extra's free of charge while we obtained a larger marquee, as the marquee company are using it for another event while erected. Hence we are locked in to some extent, and can't go back to the smaller marquee we used last year as it would probably cost the same or more.

In the meantime, many who said they would attend have dropped out, to the extent that it is becoming very marginal that we can pay for what we have committed to in good faith, with the income that the much lower numbers will provide against some fixed costs. You don't see the drop out number, because despite pleas to keep the admin in the relevant threads, people pm or email me. Much juggling goes on behind the scenes, as all those who have pm'd with changes and requests will know.

You were one of the few that backed out openly this week, so feel a little persecuted, but there are many others.

All I ask is that those who are still attending, and who have not yet confirmed, let me know as soon as possible, so we can sort out the details and do damage limitation if required. Might mean that everyone will be asked to add a quid or two per head, or that we do away with the (already reduced) dessert course. Can't tell until everyone responds one way or another.

Thanks to everyone that confirmed early and sent cheques!

Brendan

Have just spoken to Richardp and he confirms that 'cheque is in post'. Confirms 2 people and Saratoga.
