Mercathode system

Hi Guys just realised my boat has a mercathode system on it ,does anyone know when this is powered up ,ie - does it function of the batteries or shore power and if only batteries does turning off the main battery switch stop it working????????

Have just bought two,should be wired permanent live to the batteries to give constant protection even with the isolators switched off.

I have this fitted but still anodes eaten after 5 months, anyone know how to test that its working?

5 months is about what I get from the ram anodes and Cav plate one (you proabably have two on yours now) with the large one at the front lasting a full year.
