Med Boating

Does anyone have experience with boating around the Croatian coastline. I need a little help finding out the regulations, etc. for mooring a UK registered vessel there as well as any suggestions for a picturesque marina in a village type location.

No experience of the croatian coastline.

For a picturesque marina, you can't do better than Dartmouth. And a village location might be something like Morton-in-Marsh, in the Cotswolds. There will be significant tranport costs BUT the result will be worthwhile

Try a PM to Metabarca - regular poster on Scuttlebutt. I think he's an English guy who lives in Italy and cruises regularly in Croatian waters. I think he also has a lot of useful info on a website but I can't remember the url.

You won't be disappointed with the sailing and the Scenery!. The weather this summer was fantastic. The Taxes and regulations (every thing is government contrilled) will nag you. I paid about £130 for a 12 month sailing permit and then you pay more tax per birth, per person, if you dare enter a Marina. There is also a tax if you leave the boat overwinter in a marina. Transport is difficult, Croatia Airlines, in hand with BA mafia, is Governement controlled, £400 single or return. The main problem this summer was most marinas were fully booked for the winter or would not quote after 31 march 2004. So I ended up near Triese, no tax, no customs, nice people every thing free and easy,and 3 Airports to get home (Eastjet & Ryanair).
