So - online checkin completed for flight on friday, son finishes isolating at home today due to a case in school a few days ago . We might just be able to get to mallorca later this week......
We'll probably end up sat next to someone with covid on the flight over, and have to spend two weeks isolating in the apartment......

Bear in mind, Spain now requires a negative pcr test, taken no more than 48hrs before arrival & a passenger locator form.
It's pushing it to get the results in time as most labs say results available 24-48hrs, AFTER they receive the test.
Hopefully Spain will change it to 72hrs like the UK.

Agreed-48hrs make it really quite difficult (and probably impossible via Ferry I guess?). Best option to go for is the so called LAMP test which Spain also accept. Difficult to find but Collinsons do them at Heathrow. You get your result in c90 minutes and it is also far less unpleasant than the PCR (apparently). Taking my daughter there next Thursday for her test as we are flying out on the Friday

I would like to drive out to Spain through France but looking impossible unless I find somewhere on the way to have a pcr. Any ideas?
Approaching bedlam season in Empuriabrava so maybe September anyway.

Randox also have a mobile lab at Heathrow Airport that do pcr tests in under 4 hours (we used it for a recent greece trip due to flight changes) so we will be using that again for this trip.

Didn't know about that one-just checked and, at £169 it is pretty steep!! For info the LAMP test with Collinson at T5 is only £85 (or £68 with the BA discount code) so significantly cheaper albeit I guess LAMP tests are not accepted everywhere (but there are in Spain).

When we arrived last week they accepted our vaccination certificate, over 2 weeks since second jab, or a negative test. Pasenger locator form must be done online before travelling and a QR code is then issued. All paperwork was checked before boarding the ferry in Plymouth, took less than a few minutes for us. But others seemed not to have all the necessary paperwork and took 10 mins or more to get through. They all seemed to be in front of us in the queue
Have the rules changed since then? Is a negative test now required for everyone?

Negative test is only required if you are not double vaccinated. They only require a neg test result if you havent had both vaccines more than two weeks ago - unless they changed the rules in the last day or so.
edit : latest info here Spain Travel Health (spth.gob.es) . Summary : If you have had both vaccinations more than 2 weeks ago, you do not need a negative test result

Just before leaving Spain by ferry, 10 days ago, we arranged rapid Antigen tests (RAT). We visited a local lab, two tests, no waiting, 40 euros each and received the results within an hour. We have used Randox for our 2D and 8D tests via post back in the UK.
So, surely you can get something similar (RAT) in the UK before flying out, that is if not double vax'd. Proof of the latter and the QR Code once completing the on-line form is still all that is required as far as I know. Seems we are being ripped off in the UK for tests, so what's new!
I heard today there are growing concerns with increasing numbers of people infected in Catalonia, goodness knows if we will get out again soon, my concern is that if Spain moves to red status, the need to isolate in a hotel for 10D on return for me would be a major nightmare!

Rapid antigen tests are no longer ok to enter Spain, it needs to pcr or lamp. We are doing the 12 hour result pcr at East Midlands Airport the day before we fly out this time, £70 each.
