They are not acceptable. However you can order an acceptable test before you leave and take with you. Check out Medic Spot. Basically take the test kit with you and on day you need to test log on to the site do test and record it. They email you a certificate. Yea Elle’s to Italy on Tuesday. All fairly smooth. So far.
The free nhs tests also send you an email containing all the right info after you have uploaded your result to them (I performed a test as a little trial a couple of days ago) - i think the difference is with the free NHS tests there is no way of verifying that you reported the correct result to them, whereas with the paid for test you have to take a video on your phone and send it to them showing the negative result - so its a little harder to fake - but certainly not beyond the realms of possibility.Exactly what I had hoped, be able to take a test with me! Although why that is accepted to fly back and the free tests are not is a mystery. Only difference as far as I can tell is you tell them you have passed and they email you a letter. Be good to know of any issues (at the airport) at either end (outbound and return).
As of Monday.Spain is open to U.K. tourists from Monday with no quarantine ☀☀☀But amber regs apply when returning home but hopefully that will change. Valencia province covid rate is 29 per 100,000 and over 500,000 people vaccinated yesterday. Looking promising.
YepI read from this Monday no tests required to enter Spain from U.K.
No Mike, I don’t know if any test is required before leaving for Spain. Edit. Latest updates all indicate no tests are needed. As of Monday.
Do you know if it is a requirement to take a test to leave the UK?
We have had reports on our marina forum that cars/people with the incorrect paperwork arriving in Santander/Bilbao being turned around and sent back on the return crossing.
We are trying to find the source of these reports and the reasons for the incorrect paperwork.
I keep telling myself that patience is a virtue! 16 months and counting but that first trip to a sandy cove in the blazing sun is going to be very special.I've just bought a new boat , delivery due at end of June - so you can pretty much guarantee that means I wont be able to get out there now.
Our apartment is just a few miles up the mountain from your boat. And we have a small boat in Club Nautico in Altea. If you need any help on places around Altea let me know. It’s a lovely area.I keep telling myself that patience is a virtue! 16 months and counting but that first trip to a sandy cove in the blazing sun is going to be very special.
I'm still not 100% sure that the UK government don't need a test before we leave. No Mike, I don’t know if any test is required before leaving for Spain. Edit. Latest updates all indicate no tests are needed.
I can’t believe the reports from your Marina are correct. I’d be very surprised if BF didn’t make it very clear what the requirements are for Spain and didn’t do their own checks before allowing cars on board. Either way, hopefully from Monday it will become a much simpler process. We’re booked on the Plymouth Santander ferry at the end of June, when hopefully Spain will have been put on the green list by the time we return in late July. If not, then 10 days in Portugal might be on the cards if the proposed U.K. Porto sailings are up and running by then.
I smell the same rat............I'm still not 100% sure that the UK government don't need a test before we leave.
We need to check that out thoroughly.
Brittany Ferries have not been the most helpful in all this crisis.
When a friend questioned them a couple of weeks ago, their stock answer is "we only do what the various governments tell us to do".
So, I wouldn't count on them checking before departure.
I'm currently booked on the 9th June from Plymouth to Santander - returning middle of July so, like you, I am hoping that Spain will turn green whilst we are out there.
I still "smell a big rat" in that the UK government are doing their utmost to keep everyone in the UK so that they spend their money at home rather than abroad.
No fixed plans yet other than October! I am hoping to get over in July/August if things open up and I know which way is up regarding (Not) GCSEs and A level appeals. It would be great to meet and pick your brains when the time comes! Our apartment is just a few miles up the mountain from your boat. And we have a small boat in Club Nautico in Altea. When are you hoping to be there?

As I understand it, until midnight Sunday night us Brits are still not allowed into Spain, test or no test (So that is probably why they are being sent back??) and that has been the case for the last nearly 6 months. But as of midnight Sunday we will be granted entry with no test needed. As of Monday.

Yep, unless they are Spanish resident they have not been allowed in, that will be why they are being turned away. - surely? As I understand it, until midnight Sunday night us Brits are still not allowed into Spain, test or no test (So that is probably why they are being sent back??) and that has been the case for the last nearly 6 months.
