Med boaters - will you get to your boat this year?

Let’s get back to thread....as in we Med boaters will get to see our boats AND swim and be towed without wet suits :) :). Plus we will see the sand beneath us....
You mean places like this?

Places where you can drift over your anchor (pic taken before we upgraded to the Rocna)

Can't wait to get out there again.

Can anyone explain how long we can keep our UK vat paid boat in Europe before we have to bring it back one the RGR period of 18 months is over? I had heard it was 90 days but I’d like to know if I can keep taking my boat over for a decent amount of time before bringing back again to satisfy the vat issue.

90 days effectively is time you can spend out of each 180 days. Return is 18 months from year beginning 2021 and we are 4 months into it already.
I edit
Once the 18 minus 4 months (Temporary Admission TA) is over you loose your UK VAT status. You now already have EU VAT status because your boat was in the EU on 31 Dec 2020.
I hope this clarifies my reply.

Thanks David. Judging by this my keeping the boat out in Sardinia are over unless I want to pay VAT on it when I return it maybe in a few more years. Best to return it here and buy a Med style rib boat out there that I can sell there easily if needed.

At the end of 18 months you can leave EU waters and as long as you are out for one day - some argue not even a day is needed - you can return and start the clock running again. You will need to prove that you left and Then sign in when you return.

So the forecast is good, and tomorrow we’re off to spend a couple of nights at anchor. Only local of course, more than 10 km and we wouldn’t be allowed ashore to walk the dog

Your plan fits with my understanding of the situation. In fact it bypasses any complications of explaining to a potential EU purchaser (of your existing boat if you choose to keep it in the EU after mid 2022) how you have mysteriously (yet correctly) acquired EU VAT status.

Make sure the anchor holds.....headlines “Spurs supporter, his Admiral and a dog rescued on a beach after boat dragged anchor and was wrecked on rocks. After investigation found to be more than 10kms from their marina. Currently being held awaiting trial for breach of Covid protocols. One call allowed which was made to find out whether Spurs had appointed yet another manager”. Times are tough!!

It’s morning, the Admiral and her dog have been for a long walk on the cliffs and now they are paddle boarding. This is my peace and quiet time. Unfortunately I waste it studying French ☹️
