As I remember - Spectrum got slated and a number of very disgruntled customers. Customer Support was non existant.
I never bought Spectrum because their price was misleading. All their posters excluded VAT. If they aren't honest about the price then I take that as a reflection of the company.
I agree, strangely enough connecting to the payment page was really easy, if they then had provided a service that was as fast as the speed that they extracted my money then I would have been happy.

I am sure Martin said they were looking at another provider and dropping spectrum.

I beg to differ...... :)

Swanwick Marina

Looks like Chichester is offering a better deal

As per my link then in December it was going to be all singing, all dancing, free wifi with supa speeds for video downloads, etc. Now it's a single user logon per bertholder for 4 hours a day free (so no concurrent users) and no indication yet as to when it will go live.

Ah, sorry, didn't twig your link was to an archived page, just thought you guys were being offered a better deal

whizzing along at the moment, completely different to last night and this morning. maybe load based latency last night but not first thing this morning surely.. especially considering comparing against a Friday evening. It clearly has the capability to perform quickly so puzzled why it's so hit and miss in Ocean Village?

Are the many businesses around, possibly using the same link Gary? They will all have finished for the week now I guess?

If it's any consolation Gary...it's the same with Premiers wifi at Swanwick. Very rarely can I get a connection and when I do, it's painfully slow then just drops out. I use my phone as the hotspot too but data useage is huge.

I think it would be pretty exceptional if a marina operator were to provide sufficient bandwidth to allow their users to stream. It's not what these types of common systems are there for - they are there for such things as e-mail and web browsing.

Does not the original D&R log in page at Weymouth tell you this (as it does at Haslar) ?

no I was told they would be offering a premium service which we could pay a small charge for which we could stream movies and my son could go on xbox live and link up with his mates

with this advise we went out and bought a smart tv for the boat used it over the xmas period whilst the trial was being run all worked fine

now the premium service has been dropped and we are left with a smart tv I cannot use ggggrrrrrr

Ok, so it does indeed looked like they have not kept their part of the bargain.

When you go into the office to ask for a berth without a tidal stream running through it, maybe you should ask them when they are going to deliver on the wi-fi front.

:D

Now on the hard in Kemps Quay with internet flying along using MDL Shamrock Quay's WIFI. Definitely something amiss with Ocean Village's setup at present :)
