In excellent piece on shoreside electrics in MBM March p85, writer recommends use of RCD in circuit on board. There is maybe one difficulty. If marina supply is cut for one reason or another, even for a few seconds, RCD will cut and cannot restart itself. Therefore one could lose heaters and so on for hours or days. Home marina advised permanent owners not to use RCD as they had adequate RCDs in main pontoon circuits, which they would always re-set.
However owners are advised to carry RCD for use on strange marina or supply where arrangements are not certain.
