We left Jersey yesterday heading for Isle de Brehat. About six miles out I made a routine inspection of the engine room on our Trader 42 to find water leaking at a somewhat alarming rate from the pipe that feeds lubricating water from the exhaust to the stern tube. It wasn't leaking enough to initiate an emergency so we shut the engine down and made back to Jersey.
I phoned the St Helier Marina Office to ask if they could recommend an engineer to effect a repair. As luck would have it, Mark Dawkins was in the office at the time and asked me to phone him when we were in the harbour approaches. This I did and Mark met us as we docked on the visitors' waiting pontoon. A quick look and he was off to get a replacement pipe which was fitted in 20 minutes at a reasonable cost.
This is just to compliment Mark on outstanding service. As you can see from the above I have no previous contact with Mark and no interest in his business other than as a customer.
