I have posted before about Mariner Instruments of Lymington, analogue instruments from the early 1980's. We have a full suite which in general are very reliable but our wind instrument is starting to get a bit senile, failing to give wind speed about 90% of the time. I was wondering if anyone had any experience of getting these instruments serviced or repaired. Particularly, is the anemometer bespoke or generic and therefore interchangable with say B&G or something of a similar age? Seems such a shame to replace these good quality instruments. Thoughts???

Hi Rob,

I know this post is very old but if you still have any interest in Mariner instruments my grandad owned and created them. He still lives in Lymington although he is 90 this month the family would be happy to answer any questions you have as both my mum and aunt worked for him in the 1980s when they were making them.

Hi Lillie, this thread is a blast from the past! The Mariner instruments in question were on a boat that we ended up selling in 2013. At the time of sale, I had the wind instrument working again. I can confirm that the Mariner instruments were the best ones we have used. They were well built, stylish and had a lovely analogue solidity to them. Your grandad created a product that really stood the test of time.
