Marine Sales ditch Fairline?

It's true...they're going to concentrate on other things such as Maiora, AB and Fiart. BA Peters will be taking over the Fairline retail side of things along the south coast, apparently.

Re: dish the dirt plse

i believe it's 20% on fairline 30% on sealine.

I wd have thought that fairline ditched marine sales cos of crap sales figures, not that marine sales "ditched f'lline". Big boat sales are good, mid-sized sales are not so good, say insiders. praps monster deals to be had at the boat show, i bet.

I guess BA Peters is involved. As in, BAP agree to take a haircut on their dealer margin in return for being granted exclusive on S Coast UK, ie MarineSales to be fired, or some such.....

Re: dish the dirt plse

i would say no. I think BAP can hire and fire their dealers, and for example can decide who gets a dealership and who doesn't. When pjyachts was in play, they could veto certain people getting the dealership. I reckon MS simply haven't cut the sales mustard, so perwoof out they go, instigated by BAP. A similar contrract for rorig for lep sales: the md can carp all he likes to me and anyone who will listen, but the contract is exclusive, they call the sales shots so that's that. For BAP, the recent sales blurb shows how heavily they are involved with Ipswich, not just fline money there - if any?

Pyramid selling of Squadrons?

Dont understand. I thort BAP was a dealer. But you're saying they can hire and fire their dealers. So, do they have subdealers of Fairlines, or what? And do they have an exclusive whereby all f'line output is first sold to BAP, like rorig/arno?

yes. BAP have the xclusive for uk and spain, Rod is worldwide xclsive on mang and CNA. They are talked of as partnerships, tho afaik these deals date from a time when the manufactuers needed the loot for a defaulting recession-hit buyer, late80s early nineties.

Fairline party selling

Aha. Gotcha. didn't realise they had dealers and sub dealers. Flip, it's like tupperware (in more ways than one).

This whole distribution mallarky seems inefficient imho. I'd be perfectly happy to order a fairline over the web (there are only about 20 options, fewer than a Dell PC, so a few check boxes will do), pay £4000 for a lorry to deliver, and cut out the ?£50k dealer margin

(Apols to D for mentioning Dell. I meant LV)

Marine sales. (port solent)

dealt with them with a friend who bought a Turbo.

If you like salesmen in boots climbing over your boat, they are great.

may be fairline didn't like the damage the boots were causing on the new stock?

Puerto Solente

Don't know the latest gang. I knew them when they were PJ Yachts. Main assets: stuart mearns will help morning noon and night. Most boats there are fairlines, so twill be a big deal if there's no fline shop in the place, perhaps?

Re: Puerto Solente

Funny you should mention Stuart, who suggested our first boat should be a targa 39 or V40 and he was right. Extremely knowledable and straight guy.

Peters are opening up in Port Solent so another reason for the demise of the dealership. But what for Poole, Marine Sales say that all will carry on as normal looking after Fairline customers but Peters are going to need some representation in Poole surely?
