I am an Italian living in Spain, this next summer I intend to cruise to Greece and then leave my boat (Contrast 36) there until summer 2005. I have found a place in marina Kalamata, from their web site it looks ok but I was wondering if anyone has been there or knows the marina and would be so kind to give me their impressions. I am open to other suggestions always round the Pelopinissos area.

Thank you

Mike

Right on Bob!

The guy who has been looking after our boat for the last couple of seasons comes from around that area (His mum still lives there) and he took our boat there for the winter last year. It appears to be a very well organised marina and like Zea, Levkas and Gouvia is owned by IKG Hellenic so it isn't liely to fail like the lsit of smaller ones have in recent years.

Now that our boat has retired from her short charter career, Stavros has tried to get us to keep her at Kalamata but although there is an airport nearby, nothing regular flies there from the UK. The fees though at around E1800 for a 42ft'er being less than 50% of Zea are attractive. Incidentally, even Zea isn't as expensive as an MDL Marina in the UK.

There is more to say but I have to earn a living too!
