Do you intend to berth it there and use it out of there or do you intend to 'dump' it (sorry) and not see it for a twelve month. If the former, Sixhaven can be a bit of a pain as they pack 'em in so tightly that leaving at the time you want to can sometimes be difficult. If you are leaving it there, there are all sorts of options away from the city, much cheaper and more secure and only half an hour into Amsterdam Centraal by train.

Sixhaven is ideal for that. 15 minutes by rail Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal station. Ferry from just outside north side of station. 10 minutes walk and you're there. There are two other marinas a little further inland, a less frequent ferry serves one of them.

Within one hour from Schiphol you may also reach Enkhuizen, which has lots of Marina's just a couple of minutes walk from the railwaystation and is the best situated place for yachting in the IJsselmeerarea. Lelystad is also ca. one hour from Schiphol by rail, has also lots of marina's. some of them less expensive, but the railwaystation is a couple of kilometers from these Marina's

No lots of people overwinter there. Enkhuisen is a great idea though. Beautiful town, great railway service and you can go Markermeer or Isselmeer according to your fancy. Enkhuisen also has a great fish & chippie. And very little chance of junkies taking a fancy to your boat (unlike Sixhaven, which has blue lights in the loo to stop them shooting up!)
