?marina fire

Hagrid - thanks - we're neighbours - we're on G.
If there's anything we can do to help, please just ask and will be pleased to assist.
Will come in and say hello when next down.

(Demon - Hiya Simon/Debbie - welcome to the forum - will see you before too long, we hope - Roger Kathie)

Peters have taken the shell out of the water. I was stood there with who I believe was the owner - someone said " well its insured" His answer " I would have preferred to carry on paying the premiums"

Opps

I kept my mouth shut.

Anyone who lives a distance from Chichester Marina. if you would like someone to check your boat at regular intervals pm me, since my brain op I only work part time and bimble around the marina most days to get some muscle tone back.

Bruce,

Many thanks I will try and get down sometime this week, Peters did call me today and tell me she is fine. From all accounts they acted very quickly and saved my boat. They did say the fire offices were aboard passing hoses over the bow etc..

She was nice and clean.

But aleast not damaged - so they tell me

Hi Rog and Hagrid - Andy, we saw your boat moved very carefully although urgently to the side. The heat and smoke was blowing out along F pontoon directly away from your boat so should be OK

Andy

Checked your boat over this afternoon. She is absolutely fine. Bit of green growth appearing here and there tho. Need to get down more often but then who cares, it matches the hull! Mind you, they did shift the 2 sealines either side!

Ours was covered in black ash type bits. Apparently C.S. is gutted and was about to board her when she exploded. Guess it must have been a gas problem. He is a very lucky guy from all counts, and our sympathies go out to him

The boat looked very sad indeed sitting in the slings in the yard last night. Poor bloke.

Hello.Thought you might be intersted. my boat partner and I were first on the scene. We thought it was a smokey start-up, then realised worse was to come. tel Fire and proceeded to push off port moored boat then two starboard boats. can you beleive someone shouted "mind you don't damage the island packets opposite!!!
My advice is - If you have a fire on board - jump! Could not beleive the speed and ferocity.

David,

Your swift action moving the boats is much appreicated. Mine I think was to the port the green Targa, if so 1000 thanks. Looking at the pictures and hearing the accounts meant it must of been very scary. It is nice to know that there are so many like minded people about who will take action under stressful times.

I cannot imagine what the owner is going through, I have seen reports about boats fire before and seen them in the mags, on on here. However when it happen so close it brings it all home.

Once again many thanks to you and ALL the staff of Peters, and Premier who took effective action in containing the fire and proctecting the other boats in the area.

Andy

Grim

Bloody Hell - thats horrible!

As someone else said thats about half a doz of these in as many months.

I wish we would hear what the experts claim are the various causes. Unattended heaters, short circ , battery chargers going puff. Anyone know the main causes of these?
