A little while ago there was some talk of developing part of Sheerness docks as a marina. Since then, about a year ago I have heard nothing. Does anyone have an up date, even if its negative ie the idea was abandoned.?

Lets just hope that this time they make a better job of the shower drainage. on completion last time i stood in another`s dirty waste water due to insufficient falls in the cubicals

How was that for you?

Not heard anything recently, but I see that Dover marina is getting a load of cash spent on it

It's not exactly an 'upgrade'. Dover Harbour Board want to build new ferry terminals at the Western Docks and the plan involves filling in the existing marina at Granville Dock and the moorings outside the dock. So they have got to build a new marina which will be on the east side of the Admiralty Pier. The entrance to it is going to have to be pretty clever to damp down the surge in the harbour in a Channel gale.
I beiieve the plan also involves a new cut through the sea front to allow access to the inner marina.

Off the Dover Port website ...

It does look as if some serious effort has gone into designing the piers now, unlike an earlier illustration which just showed a bunch of pontoons off the PoW pier! (And which I now can't relocate)

I must admit, I like Dover as it is and think it a shame that the Granville Dock and Tidal basin would be obliterated by this scheme but I guess things have to move on
