yeah, me and its excellent - but then I havent used anything else.
Maptech uses raster charts which are literally scanned in from hard copy so you even get to see hand written amendments on them. So its not exactly high tech from that point of view, but I like the familiarity of the Admiralty charts.
The Pro version which came out this year is much more user friendly as it is based on MS Windows.
Also, it now supports AIS - among other things - so the targets appear directly on the charts, not on a seperate window which I know some people prefer.
Support from Maptech is good - they will be helpful both online and over the phone - even when I was 10miles south of the Needles trying to fix a snag over the mobile phone !
I agree with BigNick, the software is easy to use and looks/feels good. It includes tidal arrows so you can see what's going on but it doesn’t use tidal info in passage planning i.e. like Neptune.
My only serious gripe is the price of chart areas. You don't have to have bought many of them before it would have been cheaper to buy a premium package like Raychart etc. and use Navionics, C-Map or SeaPro vector charts and get the whole of the UK for less than £200. That's barely 3 chart areas on Maptech even with their recently lowered prices.
Bottom line is it's a good piece of software but if you intend cruising fairly widely you might want to just add up how much all those chart areas will set you back.
used it for years, excellent product and the charts have come down in price recently. also bought the software that allows me to put the charts onto a secondhand compaq ipaq and use a navman sleeve as a nice portable plotter

charts do indeed look expensive. Even buying in the US, the Western Med charts are 6 charts ranging from $149.99 to $199.99 each. However, if you buy Maptech Chart Navigator Pro in the US it costs currently $499.99 including all US Coastal charts in both Raster/Vector format, satellite photos and more.
I use it on my laptop as passage planning S/W and use a piece of freeware to convert routes to a format that can be imported into my C80 by flash card...mainly because I am in UK and Freya is in Spain - saves time passage planning out there!!
Also use it as backup for the on-board systems with a Fortuna USB GPS mouse.
Excellent and well worth the money IMHO...ohh that charts were so cheap in Europe as they obviously are in US!!
